We look forward to being able to seeing you  soon, Amanda & the Thyme team

Tuesday, 17 March 2020

Dear all,
Just wanted to let you know that we are continuing to open for business, unless the government advises us to do otherwise. We have always maintained a 5 star hygiene rating and will continue to do so. Even so, we have increased the frequency of cleaning our public areas - toilets, tables, handles, menus etc. along with intense hand washing. We would also ask customers who feel unwell with possible Corona virus symptoms to avoid visiting until they recover. We appreciate that others may feel they would prefer not to sit in a cafe with others at this time and would like you to know that we can offer products to take away. You can ring an order through and we can have it ready for you.Alongside our normal takeaway menu for breakfast & lunch you can also order the items in our shop, including staples such as bread, cheese, butter, eggs, pasta, rice, biscuits, tea, coffee and of course the many other products we sell. From tomorrow our homemade soup will be made available in larger quantities for you to take home ( and freeze if required). If you would like to bring your own container we will be selling it in 500ml or 1 litre (or more) quantities.Whole quiches can also be ordered (and frozen) as can our pies, pork pies, vegan burritos/sausage rolls and pate. Over the coming days I will publish a list to help with ordering.
Finally if any of our customers who live locally are self isolating and need a delivery please call us with your requirements and we will endeavour to deliver to you.
Please speak to us, and pass this message on to this who may not have social media and we will do what we can.
Tel:01204 692555
THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us and continues to do so. We will do what we can to adapt to these testing times.

Amanda & team.

Thyme turns 13

This week Thyme will become a teenager. I can't believe it has been 13 years since i first opened my doors.
We are lucky to have such fantastic customers and look forward to the next 13 years!

Here are 13 things you may not know about Thyme……

1.   All the products you see on our menu can be bought in our deli - we love fantastic quality produce and this is a great way to try before you buy.

2.   The Thyme team make all our  soups, salads, quiche, frittata, carrot cake, brownies, flapjacks and much more.

3.    We have an outside seating area (at the back) - well it's a yarden, and a proper sun trap too.

4.     Our hot chocolates are made with Montezumas organic 64% chocolate - they take time to make but they are worth it.

5.     The BBC have filmed a live breakfast show from here.

6.    Some of our deli products have come & gone but others have been here since the beginning - including Cartmel sticky toffee puds, local cheeses, Olives et al products, Patchwork pate & Tracklements chutneys.

7.   We have lots of lovely local honey in stock, year round.

8.    We don't just sell food, we also sell cookware and gifts, including handmade cards.

9.    The building used to be part of a hotel  - Thyme was the bar!

10.   Our breakfasts can cure a hangover (allegedly)

11.   We make up gift hampers all year round not just for Christmas.

12.    We have board games for you to while away the afternoon…or just keep the kids occupied.

13.    Yes we can do decaff, soy, skinny, gluten free, vegan.

Thanks for visiting and we hope to see you soon, Amanda & the Thyme Team

Spring/Summer menu additions

Eventually the weather will get warmer and we are ready - with a couple of new additions to our menu.

There are 3 flavours to choose from - red onion & gruyere, butternut squash & blue cheese, or ham and sun blush tomato. We will be selling these in the cafe served with our homemade potato salad, and coleslaw, or pick up some to take home

We are now stocking the new flavour from Fentimann's - lime and jasmine, watch out for new San Pelligrino flavours soon too

We have lots of lovely local honey in stock - all ready for the hay fever season.

Wharfe Valley rapeseed oil

We love the dressings from Wharfe valley farm  so much we use them in our cafe. Their cold pressed rapeseed oil is produced without chemicals and makes the most delicious and yellow dressings.
They are thick enough to use as a dip too.

We also stock their rapeseed oil and have just taken delivery of their new spray rapeseed oil. Again this has been produced without using chemicals. 5 sprays is just half a syn on Slimming World too.
Personally i love the spray to take camping with me as it doesn't spill.

Summer news

We are enjoying the warm (HOT) weather here in Horwich and we have lots of lovely summery products in stock at Thyme.

We love these new 'slim' salad dressings from Lucy's

They are as delicious as her other dressings but have less sugar and less calories, so what's not to like. The light raspberry would be fantastic with goats cheese, whilst the asian would be perfect on an edamame bean salad.

Local honey is moving very fast at the moment but don't worry there will be a delivery next week to top up our supplies. Do let us know if it has helped with your hay fever symptoms.

We have some lovely products in our deli fridges at the minute, including some new vegetarian pastries from Forest foods, and summery individual savoury tarts by Tom's pies in 3 different flavours.

We have recently re-introduced afternoon tea and now sell afternoon tea vouchers which make excellent gifts. You can choose from our sweet or savoury afternoon tea for £9.95 per person. Pick up a leaflet on your next visit.

We are pleased to be stocking more local jams and chutneys from hamper cottage in Horwich. Tracey's raspberry jam is one of the best we have tried.

At the time of writing we are still accepting applicants for our manager vacancy - more details on the tab above.

Have a great summer.
